Saudi Arabia and other water short Middle Eastern countries are buying large swaths of draught stricken farmland across the Western U.S., using the underground water to grow hay for their herds, then exporting the hay back home. Saudi Arabia just bought 15,000 acres of CA and AZ to do just this.
